Summary

The Material Planner utilizes the inventory control system to maintain material requirements.  This position expedites materials, schedules in-bound and out-bound freight, corresponds with corporate purchasing, and interacts with accounting to accomplish material planning goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Creates and closes manufacturing orders, runs various inventory reports, enters purchase orders, requisitions materials, issues/returns production receipts, and creates pick/pack lists using the computer-aided inventory control system.
  • Creates bills of lading for shipments, enters receivers and adjusts inventory discrepancies, changes product structure, and enters item master and item balance details.
  • Develops delivery schedules and various other reports.
  • Communicates with corporate purchasing to requisition parts on purchase orders.
  • Contacts vendors to follow up on orders and availability of parts.
  • Assists in cycle counting and makes corrections to material discrepancies by entering changes into the program.
  • Follows all safety and housekeeping standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to follow written procedures
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively 

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency test/GED
  • 1+ years’ experience in Material Control
  • Experience using DAX365 program
