Summary

The IT Strategic Business Partner serves as the strategic partner between Greenbrier’s Leasing and Fleet Services organization and the IT teams. This role focuses on enabling growth and operational excellence by aligning technology strategy, business processes, and digital innovation across the lease and fleet ecosystem. The role requires a strong blend of business acumen, technology fluency, and thought leadership to shape how technology platforms, data, and automation drive customer value, asset utilization, and operational performance. The role is both strategic and hands-on, focusing on current platform optimization while defining the future-state architecture and business capabilities that scale the leasing and fleet business.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the following essential duties. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

Business Partnership and Strategy

  • Partner with the Leasing and Fleet leadership team to translate business goals into actionable technology strategies and roadmaps.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, aligning business priorities with platform capabilities across Salesforce, Dynamics 365, and related systems.
  • Lead the process of creating and evaluating digital project ideas that will benefit our customers, operations, and enhance financial results.
  • Drive alignment between business processes, data models, and technology design to ensure consistency and scalability.

Program and Delivery Leadership

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of technology solutions that support leasing operations, asset management, and customer portals.
  • Collaborate with IT architects, product owners, engineers and project managers to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business impact.
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics for digital solutions tied to operational efficiency, revenue growth, and customer engagement.

Innovation and Enablement

  • Champion data-driven decision-making by advancing analytics, automation, and workflow digitization across the leasing lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for modernization, microservices adoption, and AI-driven insights that improve forecasting, asset utilization, and service delivery.
  • Mentor cross-functional teams in applying agile and design-thinking principles to accelerate delivery and adoption.

Governance and Continuous Improvement

  • Support development of governance structures, standards, and performance metrics to sustain technology excellence within the business.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, and IT to define investment priorities and long-term capability planning.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Information Systems (MBA or equivalent experience preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology strategy, business systems leadership, or IT business partnership roles.
  • Experience in creating and implementing new IT Delivery Management processes and measurement tools.
  • Proven success enabling complex, asset-intensive businesses through technology (leasing, logistics, transportation, or industrial sectors preferred).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise platform ecosystems, including CRM, ERP, and data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, navigate ambiguity, and build trusted relationships with senior executives.
  • Strategic thinker with an operator’s mindset.
  • Trusted advisor capable of balancing innovation with execution.
  • Skilled communicator who translates complex technology into business language.
  • Passionate about building high-performing, cross-functional teams that bridge technology and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred
