Summary

The Environmental Coordinator provides both administrative and hands-on support to facility environmental programs. This position works closely with the Regional Environmental Manager and collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to help ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. The Environmental Coordinator conducts routine inspections of waste and chemical storage areas, emissions equipment, and stormwater system. The role also assists with the collection, tracking, and entry of data related to utility usage, waste generation, air emissions, chemical inventory, and other environmental metrics. This position may include occasional travel to the nearby Greenbrier Central location.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Conducts routine inspections of waste, oil, or chemical storage, as well as stormwater system features and potential pollutant sources.
  • Assists with collection, labeling, and staging of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Collects and accurately records data related to utilities, waste generation, emissions, and paint usage.
  • Maintains organized environmental records, logs, and documentation.
  • Assists sampling and basic field testing following established procedures.
  • Assists with maintaining stormwater management systems (e.g., cleaning inlets, ensuring housekeeping)
  • Participates in environmental training, safety meetings, and improvement initiatives.
  • Communicates environmental concerns to the Regional Environmental Manager or supervisor promptly.
  • Performs general facility housekeeping and maintenance tasks related to environmental compliance
  • Carries out additional duties as directed to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and standards, under the supervision of the Regional Environmental Manager.  

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in environmental field
  • Familiarity with environmental programs & regulations, such as NPDES, RCRA, CERCLA, EPCRA, Title V, GHG & Sustainability, etc.
  • 40-hour Hazwoper Trained
