Summary

The Head of Investor Relations will serve as a central spokesperson to institutional investors, analysts, and financial media, and will play a critical role in shaping the company’s financial narrative and market perception. In addition, this leader will have in-depth knowledge of the investor relations function and can provide a holistic and proactive analyst relations strategy with regards to educating investors about Greenbrier’s investment narrative.

This is a highly visible and hands-on role, ideal for a senior IR leader with strong financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of capital markets. The successful candidate will not only represent Greenbrier externally but also contribute meaningfully to internal strategic discussions and decision-making.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the following essential duties. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

  • Evolve and enhance Greenbrier’s investor relations strategy to align with the company’s business plan and growth objectives.
  • Manage the relationship with Greenbrier’s external advisory firm to drive investor access and financial communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with investment analysts, institutional investors, and shareholders.
  • Represent Greenbrier at investor conferences, roadshows, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Monitor market trends, peer performance, and investor sentiment to inform strategy and messaging.

Communication and Messaging:

  • Develop clear, consistent messaging for financial disclosures, press releases, and investor presentations.
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and communications on quarterly earnings, annual reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Ensure timely and transparent communication of financial and operational information to the investment community.
  • Partner with the CEO and CFO to craft compelling investor presentations and financial narratives.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze investor feedback and market trends to assess sentiment and inform leadership.
  • Track peer and industry financial performance and provide comparative insights.
  • Deliver detailed financial and strategic analysis to senior leadership to support decision-making.
  • Oversee the creation of investor materials, including earnings call scripts and presentations.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Build a world-class investor relations program through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Define and manage IR goals and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to key shareholder communications, including the annual report, proxy, and sustainability report.

Crisis Management and Issue Resolution:

  • Act as a key spokesperson during periods of change, crisis, or strategic shifts.
  • Proactively address investor concerns and provide clarity on business performance and strategy.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Stay current on SEC regulations and ensure compliance in all investor communications.
  • Collaborate with legal, accounting, and finance teams to uphold governance standards.

Qualifications

The following generally describes the requirements to perform the assigned duties successfully.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Communications, or a related field is required
  • 10-15+ years of progressive relevant professional experience, including experience investor relations, corporate finance, or a related strategic finance function.
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts, including direct participation in earnings calls, investor meetings, and financial communications.
  • Deep understanding of financial statements, capital markets, and regulatory frameworks, including SEC disclosure requirements.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to distil complex financial and strategic information into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing and executing investor relations strategies, including earnings preparation, investor targeting, and sentiment tracking.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think on your feet and respond confidently in high-stakes settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align investor relations initiatives with broader business goals.
  • Calm and composed under pressure, with experience navigating sensitive or crisis communications.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building or enhancing a high-performing investor relations function.
  • Highly collaborative, with a team-oriented approach and a commitment to shared success. Recognizes and values the contributions of others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An MBA or relevant graduate degree is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and foster strong partnerships across departments. Recognizes and values the contributions of others and actively promotes a culture of shared success.
  • Background in a capital-intensive or industrial sector, ideally within a publicly traded company, with an understanding of the dynamics and expectations of such environments.
  • Experience supporting or leading initiatives related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, or business transformation, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into compelling investor narratives.

  • The Head of Investor Relations will be based out of Texas, Home Office.
  • This role requires regular travel to attend investor meetings, conferences, and roadshows, often in coordination with senior leadership.
