Summary

The Senior Human Resources Generalist – Plant Operations supports the day-to-day operations of the HR function in a manufacturing/plant environment. This role partners with plant leadership and employees to deliver HR initiatives aligned with business goals, ensuring compliance with policies, labor laws, and fostering a positive work environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns; handle employee relations issues including conflict resolution and investigations.
  • Support a positive work culture and promote employee engagement initiatives.

Recruitment & Staffing:

  • Assists with hourly employee recruiting, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Partner with hiring managers to fill open roles and ensure workforce planning aligns with production needs.

Training & Development:

  • Assists in delivering training initiatives including safety, compliance, onboarding, and skills development programs.
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws (e.g., OSHA, FMLA, FLSA, EEO).
  • Maintain and update HR metrics and generate reports as needed (turnover, headcount, absenteeism, etc.).

Performance Management:

  • Support performance review processes and assist managers with performance improvement plans.
  • Coach supervisors on employee discipline and documentation procedures.

HR Administration:

  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and assist in the implementation of company-wide initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, questions, and claims issues.
  • Support payroll-related changes and processes in collaboration with corporate HR or payroll.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
