Summary

The Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure will oversee the strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s IT infrastructure and network systems. This role ensures the reliability, security, and efficiency of all IT infrastructure to support the business's needs. The Senior Manager will lead a team of IT engineers and IT professionals, work closely with cross-functional teams, and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure seamless IT operations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the following essential duties. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

Operational & Technical Oversight:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments (e.g., Azure).
  • Manage the North America Regional data center, which includes the network, telecom, and voice systems.
  • Oversee our hybrid to full-stack Meraki sites, ensuring high performance and availability.
  • Drive automation in operational tasks to improve efficiency and traceability of activities.
  • Develop and implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to improve service availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Implement monitoring and reporting systems for proactive maintenance and issue resolution.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance metrics to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage disaster recovery planning and execution, including backups and business continuity.
  • Oversee infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and hardware/software procurement.
  • Maintain oversight of warehouse management to provide high efficiency and productivity for all operations.

Strategic Leadership & Financial Management:

  • Manage IT infrastructure, telecom, and internet budgets and forecast project costs.
  • Partner with the IT management team on strategic technology initiatives and projects to forecast costs, equipment, and resources.
  • Align projects with the organization's business needs, initiatives, and strategic direction.
  • Responsible for the management of a managed service provider for our cloud and our network operations.
  • Implement IT strategies and infrastructure with a standardization mindset.
  • Create and maintain project timelines and project milestones and identify appropriately skilled resources for business projects through collaboration within the local and Central IT departments.
  • Prepare RFPs and evaluate bid proposals and specifications for infrastructure projects, including project plans, scope of work, status, and summary reports.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for infrastructure services and equipment.
  • Multi-task high-level priorities and manage additional responsibilities as assigned.

Team & People Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of infrastructure engineers, system administrators, and contract resources.
  • Drive the establishment of performance goals and provide on-going feedback, coaching, and development to enhance the team's performance and capability.
  • Facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement.
  • Manage the delivery of technology and support services via a team-based, customer-centric approach.
  • Increase end-user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with application, security, and support teams to align infrastructure with organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features and services that meet customer needs and business requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal customers and vendors.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to site reliability engineering and cloud infrastructure.

Policy, Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure security is a foundational component of all infrastructure processes and decisions, not an afterthought, and align to security best practices.
  • Be responsible for implementing IT SOX controls and aligning IT infrastructure and processes to ISO 27001 standards.
  • Own risks and coordinate closely with the risk management practice to prioritize operational and security risks.
  • Manage IT's controls, policies, procedures, practices, and processes to protect the organization's IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of information.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans and post-incident reviews to identify root causes and prevent future incidents.
  • Identify and eliminate security risks.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and operations.

Qualifications

The following generally describes the requirements to perform the assigned duties successfully.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 9+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years of team management experience.
  • 7+ years of experience with Windows/Linux server environments and enterprise storage.
  • 5+ years and demonstrated proficiency in Azure cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and expertise with network architecture, firewalls, VPNs, and LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, Ansible, Terraform, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and tools.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Windows/Linux server environments and enterprise storage.
  • Experience with cloud Azure infrastructure and services.
  • Proficiency in network architecture, firewalls, VPNs, and LAN/WAN technologies, including experience with Meraki switches and Fortinet firewalls (both on-premises and virtual in Azure).
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Ansible, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and tools.
