Summary

The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be responsible for advancing the modernization of the organization’s IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on security and cloud-native technologies. This role is instrumental in applying core SRE principles—reliability, observability, automation, and efficiency—to support and enhance system performance and stability.


The SRE will work in close coordination with internal teams, security personnel, and Managed Services Providers (MSPs) to ensure operational reliability and enforce security best practices. This position plays a key role in integrating SRE methodologies across the organization’s hybrid environment, ensuring consistent delivery of secure and resilient services as the company scales.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

Infrastructure

  • Lead the automation of infrastructure provisioning and operational workflows using Terraform, Ansible and similar tools to ensure environment consistency, scalability and repeatability.
  • With a strong background in cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) demonstrate the ability to manage resources efficiently and optimize configurations for reliability and performance.
  • Design and implement scalable, fault tolerant architectures with a focus on high availability, resiliency, and performance turning across distributed systems.
  • Standardize cloud environments and implement cost optimization strategies to drive operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
  • Partner with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver secure, cost-effective, reliable cloud infrastructure aligned with business and technical objectives.
  • Design secure network topologies and implement monitoring and automation-tooling to increase reliability, observability, and self-healing capabilities in production environments.

SRE Discipline & Practices

  • Apply SRE principles to implement and iterate on Service Level Objectives (SLOs), error budgets, observability enhancements, and modernization initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems and tools that improve system availability, reliability, and performance while reducing operational burden.
  • Minimize manual effort by automating common operational tasks and integrating CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and system health checks.
  • Develop and track key reliability metrics to enable real-time visibility into infrastructure health and drive data-informed decision making.
  • Proactively identify reliability gaps and lead continuous improvements efforts to boost confidence.
  • Champion security-by-design and reliability-by-default in architecture and engineering processes, holding high standards for system robustness.
  • Take ownership of reliability tooling, policies, standards with a continuous improvement mindset focused on making things better than the day before.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Author and review technical documentation and infrastructure design standards to support onboarding, maintenance, and knowledge transfer.
  • Define and enforce best practices for system and network architectures to promote reliability excellence.
  • Collaborate with Security, IT, Engineering and improve company governance practices.
  • Represent the infrastructure function in Change Management and architectural reviews, advocating for stability, scalability, and compliance.

Security & Compliance

  • Participate in internal and external security assessments and audits, contributing to evidence gathering and remediating identified vulnerabilities to meet regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Integrate reliability and security into every stage of infrastructure lifecycle, ensuring secure-by-default systems and adherence to Zero Trust principles.
  • Ensure infrastructure compliance with ISO 27001 and internal risk frameworks by maintaining controls, documenting compliance posture, and implementing remediation plans.
  • Lead infrastructure cleanup initiatives to eliminate legacy risks and align environments with modern security, compliance and follow best practice standards.

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, with a deep understanding of core services like networking, compute, and storage.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and maintain scalable, high availability, and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Experience implementing automation for infrastructure provisioning and tasks.
  • Working knowledge of networking and security fundamentals, including firewalls and IAM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in SRE or Infrastructure Engineering role.
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior SREs or cross-functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of network architecture design and the ability to integrate both reliability and security into the infrastructure lifecycle (reliability by design).
  • Experience designing and implementing self-healing, auto-scaling systems to improve resilience.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with at least one interpreted, dynamically typed programming language and at least one compiled, statically typed programming language.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
  • Contribute to architectural reviews and change management with a focus on reliability, cost, and risk.
